Boosting Your
Credit Score
Let’s say you have many little collections that are already
paid or have a late mortgage or car payment due to an
oversight that is negatively affecting your score and
you’re having trouble getting a car loan or mortgage
because of this. This is when the question whether you
should use a credit repair agency or not arises. The
process that they use is quite simple, and that is they
dispute all the negative collections and late payments on
your credit report ,whether the late is accurate or not is
not relevant to this method. The law is if there is a
dispute on a credit report, and the creditor does not
answer within 45 days of your dispute, it has to be
removed. If they respond and it does not get removed you
wait some time and you dispute it again and again! You
would be suprised how many collection agencies, banks etc,
won’t bother responding if something is getting old and is
already paid. I have personally seen up to 70 percent of
negative information get removed by disputing the report.
This is something that you can do on your own either
electronically with an online dispute form that all three
credit bureaus have available on their sites when you log
in to view your credit report. Or you can request dispute
forms and mail them in. Disputing items on a credit report
takes persistence and dilligence and can pay off if
pursued. If you do not have the time or patience to do this
on your own, credit repair agencies will do this for a fee.
Some charge a one time fee until it’s removed depending on
how much you have, and some have a monthly fee that is
ongoing until you are satisfied with the results. You can
either dispute it online by contacting the credit bureaus
directly by mail or you can sign up with them and do it
online as they offer online dispute forms.
